Portal to Multidimensional Living

We must change our lives, so that it will be possible to live by the contrary assumption that what is good for the world will be good for us. And that requires that we make the effort to know the world and to learn what is good for it. We must learn to cooperate in its processes, and to yield to its limits.
 
But even more important, we must learn to acknowledge that the creation is full of mystery; we will never entirely understand it. We must abandon arrogance and stand in awe.
We must recover the sense of the majesty of creation, and the ability to be worshipful in its presence. For I do not doubt that it is only on the condition of humility and reverence before the world that our species will be able to remain in it.

Exploration #11

Many people aren’t aware of the subtle realms, and yet we all are affected by the subtle energies around us all the time. Living with the context of a multidimensional world offers an opportunity to pay attention to the quality of energies that touch us as we move through our everyday lives.  It also invites us to notice what qualities and energies we radiate into the world within a number of frequencies and “levels”.  I use the word “levels” to attempt to describe the fact that frequencies generate, or support, different qualities of being—an infinite variety of qualities of being, expression—of manifestation.

This week’s exploration offers an opportunity to pay particular attention to two dynamics. First is to notice how you feel in various situations, to become more aware of the impact on you of the subtle environments you move through every day.  The other is to notice the impact of what you send into the world on a daily basis. For example, if you find yourself in a bad mood, or upset about something, notice what the world around you feels like as you radiate the thoughts and feelings that resonate with frequencies of upset or negativity. View More

Why do humans think
Earth is silent
beneath all that stone and dirt?
Why don’t they hear her as clearly as I do?
The whispers of moonlight,
the summons of sun,
the longing of river
and the shout of thunder.
Earth is not silent.
She speaks in every turning of her axis,
every tilting of her hips,
and in the secrets she shares

It is understandable that many of our theories on the nature of life are based on animals and plants; however, to confine our understanding of life to these familiar forms is to confuse the material expression of aliveness with the energy of aliveness itself. The form is not the aliveness, but its container. We need to broaden our inquiry into the meaning of life.

An indigenous culture with sufficient territory, and bilingual and intercultural education, is in a better position to maintain and cultivate its mythology and shamanism. Conversely, the confiscation of their lands and imposition of foreign education, which turns their young people into amnesiacs, threatens the survival not only of these people, but of an entire way of knowing. It is as if one were burning down the oldest universities in the world and their libraries, one after another — thereby sacrificing the knowledge of the world’s future generations.

Participatory consciousness emerges in relationship with an animate world, an ensouled universe with both a past and an unfolding future. Rivers and mountains, galaxies and microbes are physical and psychic presences with their own stories and longings. I believe that Thomas Berry not only expressed participatory consciousness, but that he helped evoke it in others, and that this evocation was one of his finest gifts to Earth and to the human species.
