In a book that looks at plant intelligence, as well as the intelligence of other life forms, the author says, speaking of Charles Darwin’s work on plants “ 1) that the root of the plant is in fact its brain; and 2) that the plant is using sensitive, and intelligent, analysis of its surroundings to navigate through the soil their brain capacity is much larger than Darwin supposed their neural systems are highly developed – in many instances as much as that of humans, and that they make and utilize neurotransmitters identical to our own.”
